Leopold von Sacher-Masochs Novellenzyklus Das Vermächtnis Kains war als poetisches Panorama der Kälten und Klüfte menschlicher Naturgeschichte geplant. Vollendet wurden allerdings nur zwei von sechs Teilen, die Bände zur Liebe und zum Eigentum. COLD LOVE (seelenstahlbaden) setzt das unfertige Opus magnum in einer Reihe von Stück-Miniaturen spekulativ fort. Dabei werden der Struktur eines japanischen nō-Theater Festspiels folgend je unterschiedliche performative Perspektivierungen auf die Risiken moderner Freiheitsprojekte gewählt und diese in ihren Frustrationspotentialen modellhaft erkundet – als therapeutische Seelenkur für Liebeswillige.

Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s novella cycle The Legacy of Cain was planned as a poetic panorama of the chills and chasms of a natural history of humankind. However, only the first two of six parts were realized. COLD LOVE (seelenstahlbaden) speculatively continues his abandoned opus magnum in five miniature plays. Following the structure of a Japanese nō-theater festival, different performative perspectives on the risks of modern projects of freedom are chosen and explored in their potential for frustration in a model-like manner – as a therapeutic soul treatment for the lovesick.
